Rome Food & Wine Tour Description

Buon Appetito!!

Rome as the capital of the western world has experienced near 3000 years of culinary influence which combined with its volcanic ash rich fertile soils, diversity of surrounding climates and terrain has created the world’s most enduring dishes.

Explore the diversity of Italian Cuisine. Learn its history and find out why Italian food has enchanted the pallet for centuries. Visit with us the Family owned shops and culinary artisans who have kept alive Rome’s oldest food traditions. Meet the experts and learn the secrets of fresh pasta, produce, meat, cheese, and bread on our 3.5 hour history and food tour.

Taste the difference and savor the experience of a life time. Your tour begins with the best coffee in Italy at the world famous San Eustachio Café where your pallet will be teased by the mildly bitter Arab bean brought to Italy in the 17th century and has been ever after an Italian obsession.

We then make are way to the Della Palma gelateria sporting more than 150 flavors of gelato. A frozen Italian delight which dates back to the time of Ancient Romans ascending the mountains of Sicily just to obtain gelatus (frozen) snow needed to create the rich and creamy treat used to satisfy emperors.

A short walk past the beautiful Pantheon and through Piazza Navona with gelato in hand we come to one of Rome's most famous delhis to taste some of the finest cured meats in Italy. Prosciutto, Salami, Pancetta , and Porchetta in the words of Homer Simpson all the product of this “wonderful magical animal” used not only in Roman kitchen but also as one of the most bizarre weapons in history.

Next we descend down to ancient roman ruins in lower level of our specially chosen restaurant - the closest one can get to the assassination sight of Julius Caesar and there we will sample an array of Antipasti (appetizers) while learning about the food and one of the most transformational events of history.

Next stop the Rome’s award winning Antico Forno Roscioli (Bakery) where you will learn about bread making and naming whilst tasting some of the best Pizza Taglio of the city.

Make sure you have room for the last stop where you will have 3 different pasta dishes at the Chef owned award winning restaurant. Each fresh pasta dish is accompanied by a glass of house wine and created in the themes of Past, Present, and Future to ensure your food journey will leave you with not only the history and tradition of Italian food but also gives u a glimpse at the future of Italian Cuisine.

"The Best Rome Tours"

Great tour, made our vacation memorable, highly recommended! We've been to Rome before with other tours, but this was our best tour ever. They knew every detail, adapted the tour to our interests. Both tours guides were experts in historical and religious background - which made for great tours. They kept us out of crowds where possible and quickly adapted the tour to our interests. Overall outstanding group. Our family of 5 booked the Passion of Christ tour. Blitch was enthusiatic and a great tour guide, he took us to amazing arfifacts that I could hardly believe existed in these other sites. Overall a highly enjoyable and amazing historical and religious tour. The whole family was intrigued and Blitch was a great tour guide for the adults and our teens. We also did the Papal audience tour and this is where the preparations of Eternal City shined. They contacted us several months ahead when the Pope's schedule changed, savings us from dissapointment during our visit. As we really wanted to see a Papal address, they adapted the tour for our family to a in depth highlight of St. Peter's followed by an explanation and viewing of the Papal angelicus. We immensely enjoyed Paul as a tour guide. He had amazing knowledge of all things around the Vatican and we loved the tour. He did a great job of showing and describing St. Peter's giving us appreciation of the art and history in a way we never appreciated in previous tours. Overall great, highly knowledgable and adaptable tour company. Definitely the best experience in our trips to Rome - present and past.
