Tivoli Villas Day Trip From Rome Tour Description

Be transported back in time to the Golden Age of the Roman Empire in the enchanting Hadrian’s Villa (a.k.a. Villa Adriana) and see the 16th rebirth of ancient luxury and refinement in the nearby renaissance Villa d’Este. Our unique day trip from Rome is a welcome addition to any itinerary allowing tourist to escape the hustle and bustle of the city with a relaxing coach ride through the beautiful countryside surrounding Tivoli en route to an inspiring excursion through two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Hadrian's Villa

Our first destination is the ruins of Hadrian’s Villa built by the same genius and taste that gave rise to the Pantheon. Hadrian’s Villa was the luxury palace of the 2nd century roman emperor Hadrian. Today, it is an enthralling archaeological complex of 30 buildings covering over a square kilometer. It remains one of the finest examples of Alexandrian gardens in the world, done in the styles of Greece and Egypt two favorite travel destination of the emperor. The pools and grottoes will stir your imagination as your taken back to the age of imperial opulence by your expert guide.

Villa d'Este

Next your guide will take you on a short trip over to see the majesty of Villa d’Este, a Villa inspired in style, and containing some of the statues of the nearby Hadrian’s Villa. Dramatic jets of water, shimmering pools and classical statuary create a concert of light and shadow that bring to life the gardens surrounding the breathtaking Villa. You will walk the halls and view the rooms elaborately decorated floor to ceiling in fresco paintings taking you back to the age of the renaissance luxury.

Finally, catch your breath, share your elation and enjoy the short ride back to Rome. Transport is included as part of the tour and places book up quickly.

"The best way to see Rome"

Having been to Rome a few times before, our group was looking to tour Villa D'Este, Hadrian's Villa and the Catacombs of St. Callixtus with guides who offered a truly Christian perspective. And this is exactly what we found with Eternal City Tours.
Our group of 10 came from diverse backgrounds, but everyone was riveted by the fountains of information flowing in our direction. Our guides, Blitch and James were not only marvelously well-informed and passionate, they were also extremely patient!
I strongly recommend Eternal City Tours for those who want to delve more deeply into the wonders of Rome.
